Mid-Month Motivation: Overcoming the holiday hustle

Hi, lovely readers! 💖

We’re in the middle of the month, and you know what that means... the holiday hustle is in full swing. Whether you’re prepping for festive gatherings, juggling work deadlines, or trying to cross a million things off your to do list, it’s easy to feel like your energy is running on fumes.

I’ve definitely been feeling it too! Just the other day, I found myself staring into space tired af, my inbox overflowing, and my planner (notes app) looking more like a chaotic art piece than an organized schedule. I felt like shouting, "When is it my turn to relax?"

If you’re feeling the same way, take a deep breath (seriously, do it now 😌). We’re going to pause, reset, and find a way to get through the holiday hustle without losing our sparkle. Let’s dive into how we can keep our motivation strong and stay joyful amidst the chaos. 🌟

Why Mid-Month is the perfect time to reset?

First, let’s acknowledge why the middle of the month feels so overwhelming. At this point, you’re likely:

》Feeling the pressure of unfinished tasks.

》Struggling to balance work, life, and holiday plans.

》Experiencing decision fatigue from all the seasonal commitments.

The good news? Mid-month is also the perfect time to pause, regroup, and make the rest of the month smoother. A little motivation goes a long way in helping you tackle the hustle with grace and a smile! 😊

___

1. Embrace the power of prioritizing

Let’s face it, there’s no way to do everything perfectly. And that’s okay! The key to overcoming the holiday hustle is prioritizing what truly matters.

Here’s what I did last weekend: I sat down with my planner, looked at my endless list of tasks, and asked myself, "What’s actually important?" Spoiler: not everything was urgent!

How you can do it too:

◇ Break your to do list into three categories: "must do," "nice to do," and "can wait."

◇ Tackle the must do's first and let go of the guilt about the rest.

◇ Remind yourself that even small progress is still progress.

💡 Pro tip: Use the "two minute rule." If something takes less than two minutes (like replying to an email or making a quick call), do it immediately instead of letting it pile up.

2. Create a "holiday hustle survival kit"

This might sound dramatic, but trust me, it works! Your survival kit is a little collection of things that keep you grounded and motivated when the hustle feels overwhelming.

Here’s what’s in my kit:

♡ A favorite snack (because snacks make everything better).

♡ A calming playlist for moments when I need to tune out the chaos.

♡A journal (notes app again) where I jot down quick gratitude notes or reminders.

♡ My comfiest blanket for impromptu self-care breaks.

How to make yours:

♡ Include items that bring you comfort and joy.

♡ Keep it handy for those "I need a breather" moments.

The other day, I pulled out my kit when I felt like I couldn’t handle one more thing and let me tell you, sipping tea while listening to my playlist was an instant game changer!

___

3. Say No (and mean it!)

Raise your hand if you’re guilty of saying "yes" to everything during the holidays 🙋‍♀️. I totally get it, it’s hard to turn down invitations or requests, especially when you want to make everyone happy. But here’s the truth: you can’t pour from an empty cup.

How to say no gracefully:

♤ Be polite but firm: "I’d love to, but I’m already stretched too thin this week."

♤ Offer an alternative: "I can’t make it on Friday, but how about next weekend?"

♤ Remember that "no" is a complete sentence, you don’t owe anyone an explanation.

___

4. Schedule downtime (Yes, schedule it!)

When you’re in hustle mode, downtime often takes a backseat. But scheduling even 15-30 minutes for yourself can make a world of difference.

What I do:

I literally block off time in my planner for “me time.” Whether it’s a quick skincare routine, or just lying down with my thoughts, this downtime is sacred.

Ideas for your downtime:

☆ Watch a short episode of your favorite show.

☆ Go for a quick walk and soak up some fresh air.

☆ Try a 5 minute guided meditation.

Remember, self-care isn’t selfish. It’s necessary!

5. Break big tasks into tiny steps

Looking at a massive task can feel so intimidating that you don’t even want to start. (Hello, holiday shopping!) But breaking it into smaller steps makes it much more manageable.

What worked for me:

When I was prepping my blog content for the holidays, I broke it down into tiny tasks:

1. Brainstorm topics.

2. Write outlines.

3. Write one post at a time.

Each small step felt like an accomplishment, and before I knew it, I was done!

Try This:

• Choose one big task you’ve been avoiding.

• Break it into steps so small they feel easy.

• Celebrate each step you complete! 🎉

6. Find your Mid-Month mantra

Mantras might sound a little "woo-woo," but I promise they work. Having a go to phrase can help you stay grounded and motivated during stressful moments.

My Current Mantra: "I am doing my best, and that is enough."

Whenever I feel overwhelmed, I repeat this to myself and honestly, it’s like a little mental hug. 🫂

Create your own mantra:

♧ Think about what you need to hear right now.

♧ Keep it short, positive, and uplifting.

♧ Write it down or set it as your phone wallpaper for easy access.

7. Celebrate small wins

In the middle of the hustle, it’s easy to focus on what’s left to do instead of what you’ve already accomplished. Taking a moment to celebrate small wins can boost your motivation and keep you going.

How I celebrate?

Last week, after finishing a blog post I’d been procrastinating on, I treated myself to my favorite snack. It was such a small thing, but it made me feel so good!

Your turn:

~ Treat yourself to a coffee or snack when you check off a task.

~ Take a victory dance break (yes, even for small wins).

~ Share your progress with a friend who’ll cheer you on.

___

8. Lean into the holiday spirit

Finally, don’t forget to enjoy the season! The holidays are about joy, love, and connection, not just checking off tasks.

How I’m leaning in?

Even during busy weeks, I try to do something festive that makes me smile. Last night, I watched "Home Alone," it turned into a moment of joy.

Ideas to try:

> Decorate a small corner of your space to feel festive.

> Watch a holiday movie with your favorite snacks.

> Do something kind for someone else.

Final thoughts

The holiday hustle doesn’t have to leave you feeling drained. With a little mid-month motivation and these simple strategies, you can overcome the chaos and end the year feeling empowered, joyful, and balanced.

So, let’s make a pact: this week, we’re going to focus on what truly matters, celebrate our small wins, and take care of ourselves along the way.

You’ve got this, and I’m cheering you on every step of the way! Until next time, stay bubbly, stay motivated, and enjoy the holiday season. 💗
