Your first step to a self-love filled 2025
Hello, lovely souls!

Happy New Year! Can you believe it? We’ve officially stepped into 2025, a blank slate brimming with endless possibilities and exciting opportunities. Today feels extra special because it’s not just the start of a new year, it’s the perfect moment to embrace you.
When I woke up this morning, the first thing I did (after hitting snooze once or twice!) was smile and remind myself: "Fathima, this is going to be a year of self-love, growth, and happiness." It might sound cheesy, but trust me, setting the tone for the year with a positive mindset feels like the ultimate power move.
So, if you’re ready to make 2025 the year of you, let’s take that first step together. We’re diving into practical, bubbly, and oh so cute tips to start this journey of self-love on the right foot.
___
1. Start with gratitude for yourself
Before we set any goals or create any plans, let’s pause and appreciate who we are right now. Yes, right now, messy hair, mismatched socks, and all!
This morning, as I sipped my favorite: tea, I made a little list of things I’m grateful for about myself. From my quirky laugh to my determination to keep going even when things get tough, it reminded me that self-love starts with self-appreciation.
Try this:
🌷 Write down 5 things you love about yourself.
🌷 Think about your unique talents, personality traits, and even the small things that make you smile.
🌷 Keep this list where you can see it as a daily reminder of your awesomeness.
___
2. Define what self-love means to you
Self-love looks different for everyone, and that’s the beauty of it! For me, it’s all about setting boundaries, prioritizing my mental health, and treating myself with kindness. What about you?
Let’s take a moment to define what self-love means in your life. Is it about carving out "me time"? Or maybe it’s about speaking kinder words to yourself? Whatever it is, make it personal and authentic.
Try this:
🥨bGrab a notebook and write: "Self-love in 2025 means…"
🥨 List the habits, feelings, and actions that resonate with you.
🥨 Use this as your guide to staying aligned with your self-love journey.
___
3. Set self-love intentions (not resolutions)
Okay, let’s talk intentions versus resolutions. Resolutions can feel super rigid, while intentions are softer, more flexible, and rooted in self-compassion.
For 2025, one of my intentions is to nurture my creativity through writing and trying new hobbies (sewing, anyone?). Instead of pressuring myself to hit specific goals, I’m focusing on enjoying the process and celebrating every little win.
Try this:
🍩 Choose 2-3 self-love intentions for the year.
Examples: "I will speak kindly to myself," "I will prioritize rest," or "I will make time for hobbies I love."
🍩 Write them down and revisit them often.
___
4. Create a self-love ritual
One of the easiest ways to infuse self-love into your daily life is by creating a ritual, something simple yet meaningful that reminds you to prioritize yourself.
For me, it’s starting my mornings with a 5-minute gratitude practice followed by my skincare routine. It’s such a calming way to set the tone for the day.
Try this:
🍒 Choose a small daily ritual that feels special to you.
🍒 Ideas: journaling, lighting a candle while meditating, or stretching before bed.
🍒 Make it something you look forward to!
___
5. Declutter what no longer serves you
New year, fresh vibes! Let’s clear out anything that’s weighing us down, be it negative thoughts, toxic relationships, or even a messy closet.
Last weekend, I went on a decluttering spree and let go of items that didn’t spark joy (yes, I Marie Kondo-ed my life!). It felt so liberating and left me with space to welcome positivity into 2025.
Try this:
🌈 Spend 15 minutes decluttering one area of your life, whether it’s your mind, social media feed, or wardrobe.
🌈 Ask yourself: "Does this bring me joy or serve my growth?"
🌈 Let go with gratitude and make space for the new.
___
6. Prioritize rest and recharge
Let’s normalize this: rest is productive! Taking time to relax and recharge isn’t a luxury, it’s a necessity.
This year, I’m making rest a non-negotiable part of my self-love journey. Whether it’s cozying up with a book, enjoying a bubble bath, or simply taking a nap, rest helps me show up as my best self.
Try this:
💌 Block out "rest days" in your calendar.
💌 Experiment with different ways to relax and find what works for you.
💌 Remember, rest isn’t laziness, it’s self-love in action.
___
7. Speak kindly to yourself
We’ve all been guilty of negative self-talk (trust me, I’ve been there!). But this year, let’s flip the script and start treating ourselves with the kindness we deserve.
Whenever I catch myself being overly critical, I pause and ask: "Would I say this to a friend?" It’s a simple yet powerful way to shift your perspective.
Try this:
🦋 Write down 3 affirmations to boost your confidence.
🦋 Say them aloud every morning (bonus points if you do it in front of a mirror!).
🦋 Examples: "I am enough," "I am capable," "I am worthy of love."
___
8. Celebrate progress, not perfection
Perfection is overrated, babe. This year, let’s focus on progress, on showing up, trying our best, and growing bit by bit.
One of my favorite self-love reminders is this: "Every small step forward is still a step forward." Whether it’s building a new habit or working toward a goal, celebrate the journey, not just the destination.
Try this:
🍪 Reflect on one small win each week.
🍪 Reward yourself for showing up (even if it’s with a cute sticker in your planner!).
🍪 Remind yourself that growth takes time and that’s okay.
___
9. Connect with your inner joy
Self-love isn’t just about caring for yourself, it’s about enjoying yourself, too! What lights you up? What brings you pure, unfiltered joy?
For me, it’s blasting my favorite playlist while dancing around my room, trying new recipes, or spending time with loved ones. Finding moments of joy reminds me why self-love is so worth it.
Try this:
🍦 Make a list of activities that make you happy.
🍦 Schedule time for at least one "joy moment" each week.
🍦 Let yourself have fun. You deserve it!
___
10. Trust your journey
Here’s the most important reminder of all: self-love is a journey, not a destination. There will be ups, downs, and everything in between but every step is worth it.
As we step into 2025, let’s promise ourselves this: to keep growing, learning, and loving ourselves no matter what. Because you, my friend, are worthy of all the love and happiness this year has to offer.
Try this:
🎀 Write yourself a love letter to read at the end of the year.
🎀 Trust that every step, no matter how small, is leading you to something beautiful.
🎀 Remember, you are enough just as you are.
___
